Your first dinner [Molly]

It's hard to say it but you are growing into a young woman. As you start your freshman year of high school next year, I am glad to say that I am proud of where you are and the direction you are headed in. You are trending upwards. You are working hard and learning quickly, simultaneously. This week was evident when you made spaghetti and meat sauce and it was so good that I would have paid for it in a restaurant.

You took that skill of making the sauce, used your resources, and turned out a mighty tasty meal. This blogged is delayed because two days ago you had your 8th grade formal. Look out for that blog and the tears I will shed as you reminisce in the future from those sentiments.

I LOVE YOU!

Thanksgiving 2017

Molly you did it!

What a great job you did in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade with Miss America herself, Cara Mund. You were with Big City Cheer. You noticed us after we got our whole section to call your name out loud. We were very proud of you! We will probably be doing it again next year...

Gabriella, you were in Philly with Me-Mom and had a great warm day also. We saw you the next day when we celebrated Thanksgiving as a family.

Hello Aalycia

My name is Uncle Desmond and this is my family. All of us are loving, devoted, sincere and like to have fun. Only Gabriella knows that we are bringing you to live with us for a period...

HastyFamily, this is Aalycia! She is your cousin. She is my niece. She is Aunt Siobhan's (my sister in NY) daughter.

I took Aalycia back to NY because I feel that this is the best decision for her and our family. I am sorry for not talking to you about having her at our house for a little over a week. How do you feel about that?_________________________________________________________

Our trip to DC, NYLF drop off

Gabriella is out and on her own for a week in DC (via Chevy Chase, MD) at the 4H building.

We went down to DC, spent the night, didn't do much in terms of sight-seeing but Dad sure liked the hotel. It was in the city and had a pool. Next time we should stay outside of the city, still get a pool, and plan to do more sight-seeing activities. We should also leave Wilmington a lot sooner so that we can enjoy DC for more than a day. FYI: We left Delaware around 2PM.

HastyFamily, what were your thoughts about the trip? I asked you when it was going on and here is what you said:

  • Molly: "I loved the Greek food (from Zorba's) and the pool was awesome!"
  • Gabriella: I got to see the White House...
  • Quentin: The pool was good. I wish I got to see other monuments in DC...
  • Dad: We should have left sooner but at lease we swam in a pool and had an amazing bagel breakfast.
  • Mom: "We are never going to the movies on a family vacation again."

For the record, Gabriella and I went to see the White House while everyone else sat in the car about 4 blocks away in Downtown DC.

Then you came back, did well and we were very happy! Yay Gabriella!

CONGRATULATIONS!

The Hasty Kids take on Little League

So you two are finally on the same team. Stanton Newport Little League is where you two will first play on the same baseball team all season.

You are on Quentin's, reigning champion, Cardinals. Coach Dwayne isn't the manager but is still involved. Gabriella is playing catcher and Quentin is playing third base for most of the season. Quentin is learning to pitch as well.

Although I expect you both to  do well this season, please remember the following things: take leads on every pitch (when the ball crosses the plate), try your best at every play and position, and HAVE FUN!

National Geography Bee

The National Geography Bee is like a spelling bee but focused on the subject of World Geography. Molly not only won 2 competitions at her school, but she qualified for the states which was held at her school.

I am proud of you big girl. Everything you do I support and will be there for. You told me that you were the first person in Stanton's history to go to the state level in this competition and that is more reason for praise.

Keep up the good work and I encourage you to continue to set the standard of excellence for your siblings!

I LOVE YOU!

Moana

What a great movie! Our family saw this together at the Brandywine theater and I feel it had a great story-line. The ending was uplifting and the characters were memorable.

I want all of you to remember the spirit that followed Moana. Our inner guide is one of the strongest forces we know. Always consider it.

Halloween 2016

Our last official Halloween with the Murphy's! Since moving to Wilmington we've been trekking back-and-forth to Philly every weekday for work but also for the past two years up to Northeast Philly for trick-or-treating with uncle John and aunt Genine.

for clarification: Molly was Sue Heck from the Middle, Gabriella was Darla from finding Nemo, and Quentin was a ninja. This was the most fun for Halloween that the Hasty kids have ever had! Mom and I talked about going to a trunk or treat with Emily and Danny's school next year. Stay tuned…

Texas Roadhouse in August

This should have been my birthday celebration witht the family. Instead it was another great time to hang out with people I love most. We went to Texas Roadhouse on a Wild West Wednesday where the steaks are $9.99 and we discovered chili fries.

Hasty Children, don't forget to balance spending money to enhance your life with  spending money for pleasure. We have had a great 2016 with many blessings.

May your lives have just enough increase to kee you humble and earnest in prayer.

Love,

SuperDad

First day of school 2016-17

Molly - You had the day off when your siblings had school so we didn't get a first day shot together. Bright side, no more band and you have the same friends to hang out with this year.

Gabriella and Quentin - FFA is never more! You are at the second best Elementary school in the Red Clay School District, Marbrook. Bright side, you are in a place that enables maximum growth socially, emotionally and intellectually.

Love,

SuperDad

New pair of sneakers in June

I finally bought you a pair of sneakers! We are staying in the New Balance family but here you go. You might remember that your friends would pick on you because the toe part used to flap a little but you earned some character, displayed patience and I hope it all payed off. Now id I can remember to buy you a pair in September and one in February we won't repeat the same embarrassing trend.

Until the last drop

So I went into my bathroom to brush my teeth the other day when I saw the toothpaste look like this,

Without a doubt I was proud of all the #HastyKids for a job in efficiency well done.

It's the little things that count!

Dogsitting 060616

So you really don't like to dogsit Marco, do you? At first he used to poop and/or pee when you would watch him and now he bugs you to tears (remember when Mom and I were at prom and when we spoke you were a mess?).

To bring it back to the most recent dogsit ting adventure, you cane home early from school and gave Marco 4 pig ear treats and Katie 1. That should have been a sign right there but it wasn't.

One question, what will you do when there are no more left?

Confused,

SuperDad

Ready and waiting...

So you have done it again. Quentin, you have managed to surprise Mom and I again with both of your uniforms on (game & school) after you took your shower. What were you thinking?

One thing is for sure, you made us both smile and love you even more!

So much to think about, so little to hear...

You don't know it for certain yet but you are going to do great things in this world. I hope you read this when you need to the most.

We had a talk about a week ago while in a Shoprite. You exclaimed that you didn't like the government. In short, I told you research all that the government does before you force your loaded opinion to the masses and you clammed up.

On the ride home you opened back up to let me know that you feel the government allows companies to make money off of the misfortune of other, e.g. obesity, diabetes, cancer, et al. You said that the government should not allow companies to mislead the public for a profit.

You are one of the most kind and thoughtful people I know and you are only 12. While I tried to enlighten you on a few good programs the government runs, the premise of Communism, etc. I should have just listened. As of that talk/venting session I am here to listen to you anytime you would like me to be.

I LOVE YOU!

JDRF 2016

I'm so proud of you Molly! You are so driven and that is proven through this effort to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I know Vincenzo is too young to see how this will benefit him but knowing his love for our family I am sure he will appreciate it when he understands it when he gets older.

Happy 8th Birthday Gabriella

Days come and go but one thing that I will never forget is the look of pleasure on your face when you're happy. On this 8th birthday we celebrated the day before at Me Moms with your best friend and cousin, Dani Grace.

You and your siblings spent the night before and enjoyed lots of treats and a cake. Uncle John got you a softball bag and is gonna have it embroidered with your name on it. I think this was your most memorable present but as your look back on this you can decide for yourself.

May God bless you with many more birthdays! I love you.

Last Saturday night I...

My boy's first trip to the ER had to come on a Saturday night. A GI (gastrointestinal) bug is what the Doctors think it was. While I administered 5 then 10ML of Gatorade every 5 minutes for 20 then another 40 minutes respectively my boy slowly kept it down and recovered without an IV.

Shoutout to the nausea medicine administered and the amazing DuPont Children's Hospital for a great staff!
