Terrible Two's or Torturing Dad?

My GLH is very difficult for me to be around lately. No matter what I do she is upset, yelling, bossy, argumentative, or throwing a tantrum on the floor. However, this doesn't happen when we are in public? What gives? I mean sometimes I want to stay out all day just so I can have peace.

It started when she sleeps and wakes up at least twice in the middle of the night. What strikes me as weird, is that she never has woken up the same time QNH has. I thank God for that but it is weird nonetheless.

I feel a disconnect between myself and GLH. What is the correct way to dscipline her? If I refuse to hit her am I giving up my main defense and disciplining tactic?

Since I am the main parent that wakes up in the middle of the night for the children, GLH and I have been banging heads. I think I am fed up with her attitude during the day mixed with my lack of sleep and I have very short patience with her constant spats of: "I want to sleep with you and Mommy"; "I want my Sippy cup"; and "I want the blanket [eventhough the blanket is about 18" from her neck]".

Then their is the on-goingn battle of using the Potty. Today, and for the past few days I have asked her to use the potty and she out-right refuses. This is another reason for a tantrum. Instead of asking her I just advise her that I am changing her pull-up. Well tonight I was in for a surprise because it was a little runny with poop in it. SURPRISE!

Why couldn't she let me know that she pooped? Why couldn't I have asked her?

What is the reason for "viva la resistance"?

Tired...

Sometimes I just get tired. Tired of the dog. Tired of the kids. Tired of working. Ever feel like that?

As I blog this my QNH pulls my cord out of my laptop...

Being a Dad of 3, a husband, teacher, grad student, friend, and future leaves very little time for my imagination and to spend doing nothing important. This isn't to complain, moreover it's to vent.

Ahhhhhhhhhh! That feels better.

Lollipop in the AM

GLH asked me for a lollipop after being awake for an hour and a half (approx 7:25am).

I quickly declined and temper-tantrum #1 ensued.

I told her that she must not act like that and that it is not nice to yell (nonetheless at me). She ignored me and looked away. I explained to her that she must apologize and then the bailout happened.

She was bailed out after 2 minutes of her 5 minute time out by sleepy Mommy.

Too harsh? What do you think?
